A nice Saturday

After a rocky start to the weekend today proved to be a GreaT day.  I was a little down yesterday evening due to great amounts of stress from various aspects of life which include being an adult.  Leaving home for some me time for a manicure and pedicure.  Needless to say reading my magazine that is a year old and taking in the beautiful Johnny Depp as I read and sat in a massaging chair.  Coming home was easier, made a dinner and sat with Darren and apologized for my behavior- after all I am human but can also come clean when I know I am in the wrong.  Stress did not turn to anxiety and I was able to bring myself back to earth and to our home.

Today, we enjoyed the company of Darren's parents and grandfather as we went on our Grounds Tour of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  It was nice.  Mostly because it is a part of our relationship and the reason we have a adventures to different tracks.  The rain stayed away for the most part and we all got to see more than most.

A good weekend

A good weekend back to the bend, brings great images...

Baby is raising chickens and ducks.

And of course baby likes to be half dressed most of the time.

The view outside was spectacular as a storm was about to roll in.

pure exhaustion

Well, its a tough week.  Pure exhaustion from traveling and then getting back into the work routine.  Its a busy week with moving forward with house projects and keeping up with the daily tasks that keep the house as clean and tidy as possible and me sane from a cleaner living environment.  I am tired of "living" in home improvement stores.  I am ready to LIVe in our house and not be constantly working in it.

Random note, I am addicted to flossing and using mouth rinse.  I do not know if it because of my line of work but I do love my electric toothbrush-compliments of the job.  When flossing see-saw the floss in between each tooth then go around in a C shape around each tooth going in both directions.  This helps remove stain that occurs throughout the day.  And yes, not only should you floss twice a day but also rinse twice a day.  I use one that has fluoride to prevent against cavities and then a whitening pre-rinse will be re-added to my daily ritual.  So do it!

Now back to reality.  Here are some images from our trip to Toronto.

We did not realize we were at the border until we were about to cross.
Easy drive in.

Our first samples for the day including a great lunch.

This vineyard looks out onto Lake Erie.  Beautiful view from the restaurant we roamed.

The team trailer.

After I stopped Simona De Silvestro Darren was able to get an autograph.
She is the one female racer we follow. Awesome rookie season at the age of 22.

I desire to have a Z-Line team shirt but of course they do not sell them. LAMe!
I asked and was rejected.

Fueling UP!

Standing in the Pits before the race.

My driver, Justin Wilson at the front of the pack. Although he did not get the podium a lot of awesome things for his team in Toronto.

And the checkered flag.  Great trip!

We have...

TILE! in the dining room, and will possibly be completed today.  As I type, dad and Darren or working on completing the area.  Thankfully our kitchen space, they are all one room, is quite a bit smaller but we still have to remove the sink/counter area.  My fridge will proabably still be in the living room for another week, I guess we will see how far they get today.  I have 3 more base cabinets to prime and paint.  We have had a granite company come by and quote us on the counter with backsplash and we like the sample he brought in but may still go tomorrow and check out what else we may find.  This is exciting!  The half bath was also worked on this weekend, but it needs a new door to be attached and a few other things-very close.

The house is coming along great!  Its been a lot of work and even more so that Darren is getting to the tougher projects that I cannot help with.  Unfortunately the house will not be close to where Darren would like it by my birthday weekend, so plans for company are still in the air.
Ps I can hardly wait to sit at my kitchen table and see it all completed. Its going to be AMAzing and Ours!

Sparklers

This weekend we had my parents and siblings in town.  Dad has been helping Darren with our home projects.  Changing the backdoor, getting the half bath closer to completion, and preparing the kitchen for tiling.  A lot of projects.
We went on a hunt to find a simple pool to stay cool in this heat, not so much luck in that department.  Made a nice Lunch/dinner.  Went on a walk, Eze & I raced on certain parts of the route, trying to stay ahead of mom and Edina.

But last night we relaxed, watched the downtown fireworks from the porch and watch the kids light their sparklers.

All showered and ready for bed.

I think from time to time about where my life is, where I am.  I never thought this would be it, living in a house full of much needed upgrades, with a man-that I LOVe, keeping up with 2 people's schedules and making sure everything is cleaned.  I am still working on being the grocery shopper for the two of us.  Darren is quite the picky eater but there can be too many turkey sandwiches and chicken tacos.  But it is a great life.
Also... 10 more days until Toronto!

Little Men

So, we have little men in Darren's family.  Adorable, energy-filled, sneaky little men.
We spent an evening with Darren's sister and the boys a few weeks ago, they were having some pool time when we arrived.

Carter showing us his tattoo.

Then last Sunday we met up with Darren's family, he was armed with the camera to capture the running, excited boys.

Caleb is slightly calmer.

The grandkids got to help grandpa blow out his candles.

I missed capturing Caleb giving a high five to grandpa.

And the grand finale! Darren and I found stick on mustaches and put them on the boys.  We got the younger two, but the oldest took off in every other direction.   Darren and his brother Helped Chase with his, he did not budge at all.

This picture is the winner for my sepia wall.

Caleb was not too happy with us and his new look.
